Community Brewed Content

So you want to hack one of our works to make your own game? Or maybe you want to create new content for a game we’ve made?

Now you can, using our community brewed permissions and badge!

We grant you permission to use our games as a basis for both free and paid works, or to create new free or paid content for our games, as long as you follow our requirements below. You must follow all these requirements, so please read them carefully.

These requirements are divided into two sections:

  • Attribution and the community brewed badge
  • What you are permitted, and are not permitted to use

We’d really appreciate it if you contact us if you’re planning to use our community brewed badge—we’d love to know what you’re doing!

Please note this badge does not apply to work made from or for Good Society. That falls under our Good Society use permissions, which you can read all about here.

Attribution and the community brewed badge

If you use one of our works to create your own game, or create content for one of our games, you will need to attribute us. To do so, wherever you put your own copyright, add the following text:

This work is based on/for *insert name of work* (found at storybrewersroleplaying.com/*insert url*) a product of Storybrewers Roleplaying

All the text has to be the same size as the rest of your copyright section—that’s one of the license requirements.

That is the only attribution required, however at your option we encourage you to use our nifty community brewed badge! It comes in black and orange.

What you are permitted, and are not permitted to use

Provided you follow the requirements on this page, you are permitted to use anything from one of our games, provided you do not:

  • Substantially reproduce the text or play materials of one of our games without our express permission
  • Use any logos, wordmarks, graphical elements, or artwork from our games
  • Imply or state that Storybrewers Roleplaying or someone from Storybrewers Roleplaying is endorsing or sponsoring you unless you’ve talked to us first and we’ve agreed to it

If you have any questions about this page, just ask us.
